Products We Love! Yoreganics Eczema Cream and Laundry Products
We have been looking forward to writing this blog about another PRODUCT WE LOVE! as the products are near and dear to my heart these days.
Laundry and Eczema Cream??? What? Yes it sounds weird to those who don’t know eczema! Why would a company make eczema creams AND laundry products? How are those related? Well, if you know anything about eczema…A LOT!
As many of you know, I have been struggling with terrible eczema with my new baby. I have tried EVERYTHING to make her better! I had to write this blog as these products have been so amazing and helpful in my quest to heal my daughter. But if you aren’t a parent with a child with eczema (or have it yourself), don’t click off yet. These laundry products are amazing and everyone should give them a try!
Yoreganics is a small company that makes small batches of their products that are good for your body and better for the planet. The owner is well-versed in the struggles that go along with with eczema (and psoriasis) , and the need for some safe products that really work! And these products really work!
First is the eczema cream. When I first received it I had my hesitations as I had tried a zillion creams at this point with no success. This is a particularly frustrating condition for a natural parent as typically ALL the mainstream treatments recommended by doctors and friends are full of chemicals. I was recommended the standard Aveeno, Arbonne, Cetaphil, Aquaphor and even steroid creams. All that have at least one chemical in it that I consider less safe and would like to avoid, but you don’t want your child to be miserable and scratching themselves to death either! What a terrible position to be in as a parent! In comes Yoreganics to save the day for me! The cream is very soft and easy to smooth all over baby (or adults!). The first thing I noticed was how thick and soothing it seemed. So many of the natural creams were smelly, gritty, or seemed to soak in and disappear in seconds. Many had strong smells and exacerbated the condition which was so frustrating. My little girl itched less almost immediately. After only three days her inflammation had gone down quite a bit…visibly! While I had to eliminate the allergens in my diet that were affecting her in order to heal her completely as eczema is often an internal problem and just “shows” itself as a skin problem, you need to treat the skin as well. It has to be moisturized WELL and OFTEN with something that works. And this WORKED for me! I highly recommend this product for those struggling with condition. One thing I have learned is that what works for one person may not for another so it is a long, arduous search many times…but this worked really well for me.
This leads me to the laundry products. People with eczema also have to be thoughtful about the chemicals they use in their homes. Laundry is a particularly important one as the doctors will tell you. This only reiterates to me what I have known for a long time…that traditional laundry detergents are full of nasty chemicals that we should be avoiding…all of us! Even those “free and clear” detergents and “just for baby” detergents are loaded with chemicals that have been linked to everything from cancer to hormone disruption. I have tried a lot of laundry products since my switch 4 years ago to safer choices. Some have been OK and others have been terrible. None of them seemed to get my clothes as clean as the traditional types, and my whites were never as white as they were when you use bleach. Yoreganics has a great solution to this. They have an amazing product that whitens and brightens that uses NO nasty chemicals…and it really works! LOVE IT! You mix it with water and add it to the bleach tray just as you would bleach. My laundry looked like it had been bleached (and I hate to admit but it does look better when bleached) They also sell organic soap nuts.
Next, they offer a stain remover that is completely non-toxic and safe for people with skin problems, etc. My experience was it did a very good job at removing the stains I have…now I don’t have wine stains or anything like the commercials but it got out the everyday stains that I have to fight. I would love to have you guys give me some feedback about your super tough stains and how well it works… I have no doubt it is as great as their other products! Let me know!
*I can’t speak personally to the effectiveness of the products for people with psoriasis but I have to think they are good choice since they are related conditions.
